In early July 2026, we opened the Legacy Acres Farm & Forest Shed. After planning, organizing, making signs, arranging products, and rearranging them again, it was finally time to unlock the door and welcome people in.
The stand operates on the honor system during the regular season. Customers can stop in, choose what they’d like, and pay using the options posted inside. It’s a small setup, but we wanted it to feel inviting and easy to use.
What’s on the shelves?
Farm-fresh chicken, duck and quail eggs are part of the story, of course. You’ll also find honey, pantry products, preserves, Dick’s Rubs, dip mixes, and other seasonal finds. Some things are made here, some come from our family’s growing work, and some are carefully selected items we think our neighbors will enjoy.
The selection changes. That’s one of the realities of a small farm stand: chickens lay on their own schedule, gardens follow the weather, and small-batch pantry goods sell out.
The part I didn’t expect to love quite so much
Meeting people.
I’m happiest when someone stops by and we get to hear what they’re making, what they enjoyed, or what they’d like to see next. Some customers send pictures of their eggs afterward, and I smile every time. The double-yolk photos are especially fun.
A farm stand is a place to sell products, but it also becomes a small point of connection between a family farm and its neighbors. I’m grateful for everybody who has made the trip.
If you’re in Milan, stop by the Farm & Forest Shed. And if the door happens to be open but I’m out doing chores, that’s exactly why we like the honor system.
